Looking Like My Mother follows the filmmaker Dominique Margot's journey as a daughter of a Mother who suffered from depression, confronting her fear of inheriting the disease. The film describes her helplessness as a child, her anger as a teenager and her eventual understanding of the courage it took for her mother to even carry on breathing.
Looking Like My Mother traces the individual experience, sharing the emptiness and the eventual discovery of a sense of meaning in life. It is an audio-visually playful film about complex family relationships and the unexpected reconciliation that occurs when her mother dies.
