hile in San Francisco for the first time for the promotion of her newest film, Agnès Varda is introduced to a man named Yanco Varda, who turns out to be a relative she never knew of before. A seventy-year-old Greek painter, living in a house-boat in Sausalito, leading a hippie lifestyle. In her 22 minutes colored short, Varda portraits the man revealing to herself and audience a root she had not been familiar with, a link with her Greek family in the person of that delightful old man. It is also a portrait of the painter he was.
