Tells the story of Majub bin Adam Mohamed Hussein, a popular extra and bit player in 1930s German cinema. When the films of the Nazi-era called for a black character, it was usually Majub – born in Tanzania – who was cast alongside Hans Albers, Heinz Rühmann or Zarah Leander. Today, his name has been lost. But a closer look at lesser stars like Majub shows the full constellation of German cinema – and tells a heartbreakingly beautiful story along the way.
