Patrice Boureauis was the chief director of the French Hospital in Jaffa from the 1930s to the 1950s. Filmmaker Maryse Gargour focuses on his children – as well as those of Lucien Champenois, a French doctor who directed a hospital in Bethlehem in the 1930s – and through these stories we learn about four generations of French families in Palestine – as well as the everyday dynamics of these cities, some of the most ancient in the world.
